Fun in Production! Behind the Scenes Green Screen

BehindTheScenesThe whole process starts with 1. Coming up with a story 2. Recording the voices 3. Lip syncing to the recording while I sit in Studio G (my parent’s garage). 3. The green sheet behind me is “keyed out” during editing. I also crop out the rest of the garage (like the dirty rags, oil cans, etc.) using a matte effect in editing. 4. Add the drawings while editing. 5. Add Sockhead and animated his movement.

It’s a fun process from start to finish but it can be difficult at times trying to learn all of my lines. Good thing Sockhead Smith is such a professional because he makes the whole process worth it!

Hot Dog Song Lyrics – Children’s Song

Here are lyrics for the crazy and fun song about a cat and a dog searching for the answer to: “What kind of dog is in a hot dog?”

You can download the song for free here.

Hotdog
by Rick Roessler, ©2011
Animal noises by Carrington Lundquist & Rodney Richard

What’s there to know about a cat?
What’s there to know about a dog?
Well a cat and a dog went down to a farm
with a question for a hog.
That old hog is as smart as can be.
Have you ever seen a hog that knew how to read?

The cat asked the hog,
“Would you be so kind, the dog’s got a question that’s been on his mind and if you know the answer please tell him so. This worried dog is itch’n to know. Say it dog!”

What kind of dog is in a hotdog?
How hot should it be?
Did it have four legs and a wagging tail? Did it kind of look like me?
What kind of dog is in a hotdog?
This I’d like to see.
Because I like mustard and catchup
but not all over me!

Well that wise hog didn’t know what to say, just looked at the two in a curious way. “Well that’s a silly question any way you take it. As funny as the thought of pigs
in a blanket. Go and see the chicken and what she’ll say. She’ll laugh so hard she’ll fall off her egg!”
The cat and the dog went to the barn
with a question for the smarted chicken on
the farm. Well that wise chicken is as smart as can be. Have you ever seen a chicken that knew how to sing?
“I love Bock! ‘n roll. Put another egg in the hen house baby! I love Bock! ‘n roll.”
The cat asked the chicken,
“Would you be so kind, the dog’s got a question that’s been on his mind and if you know the answer please tell him so. This worried dog is itch’n to know. Say it dog!”

(chorus)
That singing chicken didn’t know what to say, just looked at the two in a curious way.
“Now that’s a silly question from a
curious pup, as funny as my eggs being sunny side up! Go and see the cow and what it will say. It will laugh so hard, she’ll spit out her hay!”

The cat and the dog went out of the barn
with a question for the smartest cow on the farm. Well that wise cow is as smart as can be.
Have you ever met a cow that can speak Japanese?

The cat asked the cow,
“Would you be so kind, the dog’s got a question that’s been on his mind and if you know the answer please tell him so. This worried dog is itch’n to know. Say it dog!”

(chorus)

And the cow said, “I don’t know, but I can tell you what kind of cat is in ketchup!”

Kindergarten Graduation Day Song

I’m happy to say that “Kindergarten Graduation Day” has been posted karaoke style on youtube!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOsCHnygJrY&feature=share&list=UU5-hcm0xjmcQ2cSIHigJDBA

I wanted to write a song that expressed sincere gratitude to those you supported these young graduates. Along with gratitude, I added a few lines of humor to mix it up.

An instrumental version of this song is available on my website for purchase.

Lyrics:

Goodbye kindergarten
it’s graduation day.
I learned so much this year,
it’s time I’m on my way.
Turned in all my papers
all the things we made.
Get my big desk ready,
here I come 1st grade!

Learning makes me happy
see my smile shine?
Verbs, nouns ABCs
are all good friends of mine
Counting to 100
starts with 1,2,3.
Adding and subtraction
are easy for me.
10-2 is 8

To all my friends and family
we all say hurray!
Goodbye kindergarten
it’s graduation day.
Thank you to my teachers
who helped me get this far
and all those other people
you know who you are.
Sorry I can’t stay here
like you want me to.
I’m moving on to 1st grade
There’s nothing you can do.
Bye! Bye!
To all my friends and family
we all say hurray!
Goodbye kindergarten
it’s graduation day.

Multiplication Songs, Easy and Fun Songs for the Classroom

I’ve just completed my ten multiplication songs for the new educational album titled “Multiplication Jukebox.” Posted on YouTube are samples of each song along with animation.

To me, it’s very important that the listener is given a straight-forward beat/rhythm in the music to guide the listener while repeating the math. I focused on creating each song in a different style or genre of music while maintaining a basic “chorus” for the multiplication tables. Take a listen!
